Course Outline

Module 1: Overview & Architecture

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the Dynamics 365 ecosystem and the key components of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (FO). Explore the D365FO architecture and review critical design and deployment considerations.

Module 2: Developer Tools

Learn to manage system implementations using Lifecycle Services and customize D365FO through Visual Studio. You will also cover the management of source code and artifacts via version control, as well as the utilization of other development tools to streamline tasks.

Module 3: Solution Design

Identify the necessary application stack components and server architecture, implement Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), and design effective solutions for D365FO.

Module 4: AOT Elements

Create and extend tables and forms, develop Extended Data Types (EDT) and enumerations, and build or extend classes and AOT elements.

Module 5: Code Development & Testing

Develop X++ and object-oriented code, extend D365 FO functionality, and understand the testing framework and associated tools. Perform Unit Testing to ensure code quality.

Module 6: Data Migration

Examine migration tools and methodologies, plan a migration strategy, and prepare data for transfer. Includes a lab session focused on Data Export/Import using Data Entities.

Module 7: Frameworks

Implement core D365 FO functionality using established frameworks.

Module 8: Integration

Recognize data integration patterns and scenarios, implement integration concepts and solutions, and set up recurring integrations. This includes integrating D365FO with Microsoft Azure, troubleshooting integration errors, and implementing the Data Management Package API.

Module 9: Reporting

Understand the capabilities and limitations of D365FO reporting tools. Design, create, and refine Dynamics Reports, workspaces, and data sources that connect to external data stores.

Module 10: Security & Performance

Utilize performance tools and LCS Environment Monitoring utilities to describe and implement security policies, including role-based access controls. Apply fundamental performance optimization techniques for batch processes, user interfaces, integrations, and reports. Concludes with a lab on Async & Sandbox Functionality.
