Requirements

  • Participants should possess prior experience in building a kernel for a standard desktop (non-embedded) Linux system.
  • Participants must understand the components that make up the Linux userspace on a desktop system.
  • Proficiency in generating and applying patches is required.
  • Participants must be able to articulate the functions of GNU Make, Autotools, and other prevalent build systems.
  • It is highly desirable that participants maintain at least one Linux package, either as an upstream author or within a traditional Linux desktop distribution.
  • While prior embedded development experience is not mandatory, it cannot replace the foundational knowledge of traditional Linux desktops outlined above.
