We examine web vulnerabilities through practical PHP-based examples, extending beyond the OWASP Top Ten to address diverse injection attacks, script injections, session handling risks, insecure direct object references, and file upload issues. PHP-specific vulnerabilities are categorized into standard types, including missing or improper input validation, incorrect error and exception handling, misuse of security features, and time- and state-related problems. Specifically, we analyze attacks such as open_basedir circumvention, denial-of-service via magic float, and hash table collision attacks. Throughout the course, participants will master the key techniques and functions needed to mitigate these identified risks.

Particular emphasis is placed on client-side security, addressing issues within JavaScript, Ajax, and HTML5. We introduce essential security-related PHP extensions, including hash, mcrypt, and OpenSSL for cryptography, as well as Ctype, ext/filter, and HTML Purifier for input validation.
